This is our God!

Who is God? Possibly this is one of the questions that we should have most in each of us, because when we know who God is, then we can serve Him well by recognizing each of His attributes. When we are in trials and afflictions we can recognize through all the Scriptures that God has shown His goodness and His love to deliver His people and that is why it is good that we know our God.

In chapter 25 of the book of Isaiah we find a psalm of thanksgiving for God having delivered them from their enemies and at the same time a promise from God for His people:

8 he will swallow up death forever.
The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears
from all faces;
he will remove his people’s disgrace
from all the earth.
The Lord has spoken.

9 In that day they will say,

“Surely this is our God;
we trusted in him, and he saved us.
This is the Lord, we trusted in him;
let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”

Isaiah 25:8-9

Verse 8 is very similar to a promise that God gives to His people in the book of Revelation:

‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Revelation 21:4

God has always wanted the good of His people, and that is why through all the Scriptures we will find promises from God about how He delivers His people, how He promises to deliver us, He not only has promised the people of Israel that they will suffer no more death, but all His people, that one day will arrive as detailed by the apostle Paul, that this corruptible body will become incorruptible, and that is why Paul speaking of the sacrifice of Christ says:

“Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”

1 Corinthians 15:55

Do you know what our salvation is? Christ is our savior, our redeemer, through His death on the cross He has given us freedom, salvation and eternal life. God has been so merciful to us that without deserving in the least His indescribable love, He has loved us with a love that surpasses all understanding. Glory to God for this!
