The Lord has rewarded me according to my righteousness

According to the will of our God we will receive His blessing, because He is a righteous God to us, He will reward us according to our righteousness, and will help us in the most difficult moments.

The Lord has dealt with me according to my righteousness;
according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me.

Psalm 18:20

It is remarkable the statement of the psalmist David, something we must remember is that the psalmist glorified the Lord and exalted Him with all his heart even when he had no difficulty.

In verse 20 we see that David begins praising Almighty God, and this is a wonderful statement that David was making. David’s longing for God was great.

For I have kept the ways of the Lord;
I am not guilty of turning from my God.

Psalm 18:21

For the psalmist, keeping the statutes was very important, because that was the mandate of God for everybody, and it is for this reason that the psalmist did not want to depart from the ways of the Lord.

That is why it is good that we stay righteous in the ways of God, be faithful in everything, continue to worship the Lord, no matter that bad moments come, because God will be with us all the time.

All his laws are before me;
I have not turned away from his decrees.

Psalm 18:22

We must bear in mind that God will never get away from the righteous, but will help them and will sustain and fight for them. He will do justice, just as He did with the psalmist David, who, even in his critical moments, was helped by God.

It is good that we always walk straight in the ways of the Lord, doing His will, and when we no longer have strength that we feel we can not any more, let us raise our hands and ask God to give us new strength.

Do not stop
Our struggle is not against flesh and blood

    “For I have kept the ways of the Lord;I am not guilty of turning from my God.”. Psalm 18:21

    I can understand these words of phalmist in the sense that God is just, good and rewards actions according to His will, which come from a person who is fearful of Him and wants to please Him. This people know perfectly their inability to do something good by their own righteousness.

    We are able to do good works when we are led by the Spirit of God, then we do good for we are created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them, as Paul tells to Christians in Ephesus.

    The Lord God is the only righteous and if we keep his ways and we are not guilty of turning from Him, it is because He maintains us under cover of His grace.
