Christ, our lawyer

Being a Christian is not a visa to never sin, in the sense that we are sinners, heirs of evil through our adamic nature, and this leads us to make mistakes on a daily basis, to do things that we do not even want to do (see Romans chap.7). And moments like those many times lead us to “guilt”. Yes, to feel guilty, and this feeling guilty is right, but the problem is when we believe that God will not forgive us for it.

Many people have ever made a serious mistake in the way of the Lord, and have preferred to distance themselves from God because of the shame of what they have done. It is true that sin is sin and the Bible condemns it again and again, but the greater crime is not to sin, the greater crime is to remain in sin (1 John 3: 8).

It is very good that we remember that when we sin we have a lawyer and that lawyer is called Jesus Christ:

My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.

1 John 2:1

The first thing is that we have to do everything possible to not sin, the Bible commands us not to sin, that is, to sanctify ourselves so as not to fall into sin. The fact that Jesus Christ is our lawyer is not a license to sin, rather it is good news for our condition as sinners.

I remember that once a very close friend committed a sin, which completely destroyed him, the accusations he received in his mind were so many that he let himself be defeated, and apparently forgot that Jesus is our lawyer, and that when we fail and humble ourselves before Him, He forgive us.

The Bible too says:

My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.

Psalm 51:17

We must know this, if we have sinned, we have a lawyer, the best of all, the most just, the one who is always ready for us, to listen to us, and that lawyer has the power to forgive our sins.

If you are distressed because you have committed some sin, I want to tell you not to let the accusations be greater in your mind than God’s desire to get you up.

Every man since Adam has sinned (Romans 3), however, God has looked at our human condition and gave us His Son as propitiation for our sins.

Do you know how much the Father loved us when He delivered His son in the cross? And the Father did not send His Son to the cross for perfect beings, rather, He sent Him for sinners, and those sinners are us.

So, always remember that if we sin we have a great lawyer: Jesus Christ.

  1. I thank God for his son going to the cross for my sons if he had not we would be lost without any help. I am glad he loved me and us so much that love took him to the cross no man took his life he gave it up for the sins of the world. Amen.

The mercy of God makes us graceful people—full of his grace. We are by nature sinners and enemies of God, but He loved us so much that he sent his beloved Son to make us friends of His; and not only friends but children of God also.

Jesus Christ is our advocate, our lawyer: he defends us against the charges of the Devil when we sin against the Lord, when we trespass his Holy Law.
“My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.” 1 John 2:1

The article we can read today shows us our lost spiritual state by sin; but it also highlights we have a lawyer, and we must not despair if we sin. In no way can we forget the Lord is Holy; and we can’t transgress his Law in a deliberate way: we can’t abuse the love of God.
“But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

The Lord God, the Father, loves people of this world and knows perfectly we are weak, we are dust. So he attracts us, allowing that his most loved Son may pay for us and suffers the punishment our sins deserve.
Is there a love as such love? The Father’s love for sinners is the only one of its kind: it’s unique and unmatched.

Jesus makes us perfect people of God, and we can be quiet and rest in Him. He is our lawyer; and if we believe in Him and ask Him forgiveness for our sins, he does forgive them, and we will be sure to win in the judgment of that day.

Let’s be grateful people to him for all his blessings and his love for us, repented sinners. We give thanks to the Lord God, for Jesus is our lawyer. He cleanses us of our sins
