Today we have a big problem with the theme of the worship to God and is that we sometimes we do not have cluear what is the true worship. God had a problem with the people of Israel regarding the praise that comes from the heart, He tells to Israel: “You honor me with your lips, but your heart is far from me”. And this is where we ask ourselves: How can I honor God with my lips and not with my heart?
This reflection will be based on the book of Matthew Chapter 4:23
Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
This verse belongs to a conversation that Jesus held with the Samaritan woman. We know that there was a discussion between the Jews and those of Samaria about the correct place of worship, however, at that moment, Jesus breaks that barrier of “what ius the right place”, and practically tells to that woman: “Woman, after my death many spiritual dead will rise again and no matter where they are, the only thing that will suffice is that they worship me in spirit and in truth.”
Dear friend, Jesus is referring to us, we are the ones the Father has called in his sole power to adore Christ in spirit and truth. And as true worshipers we must know the principles of true worship. Worshiping God is not just raising your hands and shouting loudly Hallelujah, this is something that goes far beyond and that comes from the heart. The people of Israel did that and God was disgusted with them.
A true worshiper is one who offers his body in a living sacrifice for God, the one whose praise is born in the heart and ends up reproducing itself in its exterior. Oh dear brothers, may our praise be that of the heart and not of the lips alone.
Let us remember that the Father sought us and this was with an end: That we give him a pure adoration. Therefore, let us adore the Father in spirit and in truth every moment of our lives, raising holy hands in any place or time.
